New Senate Human Resources Committee Chair

More articles »

Iowa Senate Republicans announced a new Chair of the Senate Human Resources Committee, which addresses issues like disability services, health care, public health, child welfare, and Medicaid. Sen. Annette Sweeney (R-Hardin County) will be the new chair, replacing Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks.  Sen. Miller-Meeks, an eye doctor, is running for Congress in Iowa's Second District and wanted to spend more time on that.  Since Sen. Miller-Meeks is starting the second year of her four-year term, she will return to the Iowa Senate if she's unsuccessful in her Congressional race.  More about Sen. Sweeney here.
