Ottumwa physician Mariannette Miller-Meeks has been "provisionally" sworn in as a U.S. Representative, as she awaits the review by a Congressional committee investigating whether some ballots in her face should have been counted. Miller-Meeks won by only six votes, so the review of several dozen "spoiled ballots" could change the outcome of the race if allowed to be counted.
Congressperson Miller-Meeks resigned her Iowa Senate seat on December 30; the Governor has called for a special election to fill the Senate District 41 seat for Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
